Ram 1500 vs Silverado 1500

Ram 1500 vs Silverado 1500

A Different Truck For Different Lifestyles, But Which One Is Best?

Today, trucks are more than just rugged vehicles capable of hard work. Modern trucks are comfortable, capable, and luxurious. Even with all the modern technology available, makers design trucks with different goals in mind.

So which truck is better? Keep reading to see whether the Ram 1500 or the Silverado 1500 is the best, All-American truck.

Price

The starting MSRP is somewhat similar between these two truck models. However, the price varies more as you upgrade accessories and trim level. The Silverado 1500 starts at just under $30,000 while the Ram 1500 starts at just over $30,000. As the features increase, the Ram gets more expensive, topping out around $100,000 with the off-road TRX trim.

Interior Features

While both trucks are packed full of intelligent and comfortable features, the Ram 1500 takes a slight edge over the Silverado 1500. It is hard to find a more comfortable truck on the road than a Ram. Starting at the base trim, you will find plenty of legroom with plush seats.

The Ram 1500 is also one of the most luxurious cabins on the road, rivaling some of the nicest SUVs available. Expensive trims and premium materials are much appreciated by drivers and passengers alike.

The Ram 1500 comes with a standard 5-inch touch screen, but you can upgrade to an 8.4-inch or even a 12-inch version. The larger screens come with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. You can also get a wireless charging station to easily keep your devices accessible on the road.

While the Silverado has a good deal of space, the seats aren’t quite as comfortable. But, the Silverado does have lots of usable space, even if the materials aren’t quite as nice as the Ram. You can opt for the High Country trim if you are looking for more luxury in a Chevy.

In the Silverado, a 7-inch touchscreen is standard, but you can upgrade to an 8-inch if you prefer. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, as well. And you can opt for a wireless charging station.

Space

The Ram 1500 has a standard 6-foot-4-inch truck bed, but you can also choose a 5-foot-7-inch truck bed. For ease of use, you can get retractable bed steps along with the RamBox cargo management system. These boxes are lockable and drainable, but they do limit the amount of bed space you have. The Silverado has a few more options when it comes to cargo space. You can choose between three different bed sizes, a 5-foot-10-inch bed, a 6-foot-7-inch bed, or an 8-foot-2-inch bed. Each one comes with CornerStep, hard steps cut into the rear bumper to make loading and unloading a cinch.

So Which is Better?

If you’re looking for a clear answer, there isn’t one. Dodge has clearly focused on comfort and interior features in the Ram 1500, while Chevrolet has built a performance-based machine. If you are looking for a daily truck that is comfortable to drive, then a Ram might be your best bet. However, it would be hard to find a better work truck than the Silverado 1500.
